When Trinity Jubilee Center opened the doors to its new building in Lewiston earlier this year, it wasn't just a new space — it was the result of thoughtful planning around how to better serve neighbors who rely on the Center for meals, groceries, and connection. During the planning process, one need rose to the top: additional cold storage to safely manage food donations and keep pace with growing demand.

That's where Maine Family Federal Credit Union stepped in.
Because ending hunger is one of Maine Family FCU's strongest community priorities, the credit union was honored to donate $30,000 to help Trinity Jubilee Center install a walk-in freezer — a practical upgrade that has already made a meaningful difference behind the scenes and at the table.

Today, the freezer allows staff to store significantly more food, stay organized, and stretch every donation further. It's helping the Center prepare for busy days, respond to unpredictable weather, and make sure fewer meals go to waste.

"The freezer has been a game changer for the soup kitchen," said Erin Reed, Executive Director of Trinity Jubilee Center. "Our soup kitchen staff can store a lot more food and much more easily take inventory and rotate stock, allowing them to serve even more meals to the community! Our food pantry has even used it a few times when our delivery had to come in the day before a distribution due to bad weather, and we needed to keep cases of meat frozen overnight!"

For Maine Family FCU, supporting the freezer was about more than equipment — it was about making it easier for Trinity Jubilee Center's team to focus on what they do best: showing up, every day, to care for the community. Through partnerships like this, Maine Family FCU remains committed to helping local organizations meet immediate needs while building stronger, more resilient systems to end hunger for good.
