Maine Family’s Card Services Program provides 24/7 convenience and flexibility with debit, ATM and credit cards. Maine Family also uses a monitoring service for our debit and credit cardholding members.
We will notify you if these services may notice fraud on your account. For credit card members: Falcon is the service we use for monitoring credit card fraud. They may try to reach you at your home telephone number if there are issues. If not, they will contact the credit union and we will notify you.
If you are leaving town for a vacation or any length of time, please notify us and let us know which cards you may be taking with you. We can help identify more quickly if your card has been stolen or suspect fraudulent use. |
Tips on using your Maine Family card
- At ATMs, enter your PIN (personal identification number) and follow the machine instructions to withdraw cash, make transfers or check your account balances.
- At merchant locations, such as restaurants, retail stores, etc., simply present the card and sign the receipt.
- At point-of-sale terminals (at grocery stores, gas stations, etc.), just run the card through the terminal and select the method of payment button.
- To deduct the exact amount of your purchase, press “credit”. Some point-of-sale terminals default to the “debit” option, however, you can cancel out and choose the “credit” option at any time. Additionally, you can hand your card to the cashier and ask them to process the transactions as a credit.
- If you want cash back, press “debit” and enter the amount.
- You can get a receipt with each purchase or cash withdrawal, and all transactions are itemized in detail on your monthly share draft statement. Ensure you deduct the purchase amount from your register. Review your monthly statement and compare it to your receipts.
- Hold on to receipts; a thief can get information from them.
- Guard your debit card carefully against loss or misuse. A thief can clear out an account before the member knows the card is missing.
- Notify the credit union of lost or stolen cards immediately. Follow up the phone call with a letter.
- Memorize the PIN and don’t keep it with the card or on the card. NEVER give the PIN to anyone.
